Tester: Montana will 'always remember' Joe Glass as an American hero

(U.S. SENATE) – U.S. Senator Jon Tester, Montana’s only member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, today released the following statement in response to the passing of World War II veteran Joe Glass.  Glass was a member of the First Special Service Force, a top-secret combat unit based at Fort Harrison:

“Montanans like Joe Glass are true American heroes.  Joe defined what it means to fight and sacrifice for this country, and we will always remember him.  Sharla and I will keep the Glass family in our thoughts and prayers.”

Tester is a co-sponsor of legislation to grant the Congressional Gold Medal, collectively, to the First Special Service Force.  The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest honor Congress can bestow.
