Tester praises Big Sky Honor Flight

Senator says all WWII veterans deserve an opportunity to visit memorial

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement after Big Sky Honor Flight announced that its first flight to Washington, DC will be June 15.  The organization brings World War II veterans to the nation’s capital to visit the National World War II Memorial:

“All World War II veterans deserve an opportunity to visit this memorial and to reflect on the sacrifice and heroism that define our nation.  Honoring the service of American veterans is a Montana value, and I'm proud that Montana volunteers made this first flight possible out of our deep respect for the Greatest Generation of Americans."

Big Sky Honor Flight is a non-profit organization that takes veterans to the memorial free of charge.  Each charter flight, funded by private donations, costs around $150,000.

Tester is Montana’s only member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
