Tester: VA Compromise will move situation forward, help Montana

HELENA – A joint House-Senate conference committee is poised for final approval of a bill to make some improvements in the way the Department of Veterans Affairs delivers health care, and U.S. Sen. Jon Tester, a member of that committee, had praise for the measure Monday.

The conference committee hammered out an agreement over the weekend, and Tester said he expects the committee to give it’s final OK as early as Tuesday, sending the measure back to the full House and Senate.

“I’m happy that we reached a compromise that I think is going to move the veterans affairs medical situation forward,” Tester said. “And I think that’s really positive for the veterans in our country, the folks who fought and earned their health care. I think this is a tangible difference that’s going to be made in the VA system.”
