Tester statement on Justice Department’s sexual assault agreement

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Justice announced an agreement with Missoula County officials regarding the handling of sexual assault cases:

“I’m pleased that folks have come together to reach an agreement that works for survivors of violence, prosecutors and law enforcement. Sexual assault should never happen, but when it does, Montanans need to know they can seek support from their community and that justice will be served.”

Tester – a long-time supporter of the Violence Against Women Act – recently participated in a roundtable discussion about campus sexual assaults and held a panel discussion in Bozeman to hear from survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.

More information about the agreement is available online HERE.
