Tester, Baucus welcome Daines to 'Montana Coffee'

Senators, Representative-elect hold first constituent breakfast in Washington as delegation

(Washington, DC) – Montana’s U.S. Senators Jon Tester and Max Baucus welcomed Representative-elect Steve Daines to their weekly coffee with Montanans in Washington today.

“Washington needs more folks willing to work across party lines, and I look forward to teaming up with Steve to make responsible decisions for Montana,” Tester said. “Steve and I have had some good conversations about the best ways to put Montana priorities first, and I will keep working with Steve and Max to create jobs, cut our debt and support Montana’s small businesses.”

“Too often, the deck is stacked against rural states like Montana in Washington, so it’s all the more important that we work together to fight for what’s right for Montana. Jon and I have been able to accomplish a lot a great things by working together, and we are excited to welcome Steve to the team,” Baucus said.

“Montana has three representatives in Washington D.C. It’s crucial that we work together to serve the people and represent the interests of our state,” Daines said.

Tester and Baucus hold a weekly breakfast with Montanans in Washington every Wednesday the Senate is in session. After mingling with Tester, Baucus and other Montanans over coffee and donuts, members of Tester and Baucus’s staff lead constituents on a tour of the United States Capitol.

Baucus has been holding the weekly breakfasts, open to all Montanans, for more than 15 years, and Tester has joined him every week since first elected to the Senate in 2006.
