Tester Memorial Day Message
(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following Memorial Day message:
“Thank you for honoring Montana’s heroes – the men and women who dedicated their lives to serving us.
“Today we remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
“They will never be forgotten.
“We also honor all of our veterans and their families– and especially those who have left a piece of themselves on the battlefield.
“This nation – all Americans – and future generations – will always be grateful for their sacrifice.
“Montana is a rural state. And serving our country is a rural value. To all veterans and active duty troops here — to your friends and families — to all of those joining us in spirit – thank you.
“Make no mistake, our commitment to our veterans and troops doesn’t end when this holiday is over. We’ve come a long way over the past few years in living up to the promises made to you. But we still have a long way to go.
“We get work done by hearing from you, by opening the lines of communication. I take your input very seriously. It is my honor to take your input to the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee. To live up to the promises we make to all men and women in uniform.
“Today Sharla’s and my thoughts and prayers are with all veterans, with all troops in harm's way, their families, and with all Americans who have paid the ultimate price.”
