Tester secures water contract extension for East Bench Irrigation District

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement after Congress passed his bill to extend the East Bench Irrigation District water contract for two more years:

“My bill ensures that Montana’s farmers and ranchers can rely on a consistent water supply to maintain their way of life.  I’ll keep fighting for Montanans’ water rights and for a fair long-term solution.”

The East Bench Irrigation District is located in Dillon.  Its water is used for farming and ranching across the region.  Tester’s bill allows the district to continue providing water while the East Bench Irrigation District authorizes a new contract with the Bureau of Reclamation.

The President is expected to sign Tester’s bill.
