Tester accepts Golden Triangle Award

Chouteau County president Tom Clark presented Sen. Jon Tester with the 2015 Golden Triangle Award in Fort Benton at the Grand Union last week. Tester was unavailable to accept the award last September when the awards were presented to members of Congress.

The Golden Triangle Award is presented to members of Congress who have demonstrated leadership and who support policies that benefit America’s farmers, ranchers, fisherman and rural communities. The award is the National Farmers Union’s highest legislative honor.

Tester has received the honor eight times.

Register for the Farm to School Summit

Even though the Montana Farm to School Summit isn’t happening until Sept. 22-23 in Bozeman, early bird discounted registration and scholarship applications can be done until June 30.

At the Montana Farm to School Summit, titled “Sprouting Success”, participants will be able to learn and share how Montana schools and programs are helping sprout success through the core elements of farm to school. Workshops, field trips and networking opportunities will provide inspiration and skill building at the summit. Individuals will also be able to to learn about and register for the new Montana Harvest of the Month program.

Deadline for Growth Through Agriculture announced

The Agricultural Development Council and the Montana Department of Agriculture have announced a change to the “Growth Through Agriculture” application deadline for the upcoming fiscal year.

This year, there will only be one funding deadline for the program, which is Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016. Further program information and application forms can be found at www.gta.mt.gov.
