BILLINGS -The U.S. Senate passes one of 12 spending bills needed to fund the U.S. government.

U.S. Senators Jon Tester and Steve Daines of Montana and U.S. Senator Mike Enzi of Wyoming announced Thursday the Senate passed the 2017 Energy and Water Appropriations Act.

Senators Daines and Enzi say part of the bill will fund programs for clean coal technologies like carbon capture and its potential commercial use.

Senator Tester says more than $12M of the spending bill will go to construct and upgrade water infrastructure for the Crow Tribe.

The act passed the Senate, 90 to 8.
