Tester Congratulates Billings’ Tyler Brown on Acceptance to U.S. Naval Academy

Senator nominated Brown and 23 other Montanans for Army, Navy, Air Force, and Merchant Marine Academies

U.S. Senator Jon Tester congratulates Billings’ Tyler Brown on his appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy.

Brown attends Billings West High School where he is captain of both the football and lacrosse teams, and earned second team all-state during his junior year. He was recognized with the President’s Award for Academic Excellence and recently interned with NASA. He has also participated in Boys State.

“Montanans have a long and proud legacy of serving in our armed forces, and as Montana’s Senior Senator, I’m honored to help our best and brightest students continue that legacy by attending one of our nation’s prestigious service academies,” said Tester. “Tyler is an outstanding student athlete and leader who is dedicated to serving our country, and I look forward to seeing him continue to make our state proud at the U.S. Naval Academy and beyond.”

Tester nominated Brown—along with 23 other Montanans—in December 2023 based on their academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, and dedication to serving and leading in the United States military. A nomination from a member of Congress is a student’s first step in applying to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Montana students who are interested in applying to a military academy in the future can request a nomination from Tester HERE.
