Tester: Obama did right chucking VA insurance plan

Plan was a ‘bad idea from the start’

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Senator Jon Tester, a member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, today released the following statement in response to President Obama’s decision to drop a plan that would have allowed the Veterans Administration to bill private insurance companies for the treatment of veterans—even for the treatment of service-connected injuries:

“This was a bad idea from the start, and President Obama did right by chucking it into the trash.  The VA has an obligation to provide health care for all veterans, not pass the buck.”
