Tester statement on University of Montana September 11 Day of Service grant

(BILLINGS, Mont.) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement after news that the University of Montana will receive a September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance grant to train Montanans to prepare for and respond to disasters in low population areas.  The grant will support the American Red Cross-Campus Compact 9/11 Collaboration project:

“Montanans have a proud history of helping each other and this grant will bolster that tradition for years to come.  I congratulate the University of Montana for bringing folks together to serve on September 11th and for continuing Montana’s long tradition of service.”

The grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service is for $75,000.   Project managers will train volunteers to work with colleges to establish plans for on-campus shelters at 15 campuses in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming through the American Red Cross.
