Tester Congratulates Bozeman’s Erica Brackett on Acceptance to West Point

Senator nominated Brackett and 19 other Montanans for Army, Navy, Air Force, and Merchant Marine Academies’ classes of 2026

U.S. Senator Jon Tester congratulated Bozeman’s Erica Brackett today on her appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Erica is a freshman at the University of Montana where she is in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC). She graduated from Bozeman High School in 2021, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and cross country and swim teams.

“As Montana’s Senior Senator, it’s a true honor to help our state’s next generation of leaders attend our prestigious military service academies and continue the proud legacy of Montanans serving in our nation’s armed services,” said Senator Tester. “Erica is an exceptional student and leader with an outstanding passion to serve our country, who’ll no doubt accomplish great things at West Point and beyond.”

Tester nominated Erica-along with 19 other Montanans-in December based on their academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, and commitment to serving and leading in the United States military. A nomination from a member of Congress is a student’s first step in applying to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
