Tester Statement on VA Secretary Wilkie’s Visit to Montana

U.S. Senator Jon Tester, Ranking Member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, released the following statement on the announcement that Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie will visit Montana later this month:

“Secretary Wilkie and I have enjoyed a good relationship by focusing our work on veterans, not politics. That’s why I’m so frustrated he would make his first official visit to Montana in the midst of a contested political campaign less than three weeks before Montanans start voting. Equally troubling is the lack of a single public event during this visit, robbing our state’s veterans of the opportunity to ask questions and hear from him directly.”

Since arriving in the Senate in 2007, Senator Tester has brought every Senate-confirmed VA Secretary to Montana for public events with local veterans.
