Tester Secures $280,000 for Water Systems Improvements in Sweet Grass County

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers provides funding for Sweet Grass County Flood District

U.S. Senator Jon Tester today announced that Sweet Grass County will receive $280,000 for improvements to the Sweet Grass County Flood District.

“Whether it’s for our crops, our livestock, or our families, clean water is critical to Montana’s frontier communities,” said Tester. “This investment will help Sweet Grass County improve conditions for small business owners, farmers, and families, protecting clean water and their pocket books.”

The nine individual projects that have been identified as critical will be designed to provide floodplain enhancement and improved functionality. They will also maintain and improve water quality and riparian health by reducing erosion, with the overall goal of restoring and protecting water resources.

Tester has worked diligently to supply Montana water systems with funding to stay up-to-date. He recently secured more than $6 million to update water and wastewater disposal infrastructure in Simms, Broadview, and Absaroke, and he secured an additional $2 million to make upgrades to Geraldine’s water system.
