Tester Secures $665,000 for Water Systems Improvements in Toole County

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers provides funding for Nine Mile Water and Sewer system project

U.S. Senator Jon Tester today announced that Toole County will receive $665,000 to make improvements to the outdated Nine Mile Water and Sewer system near Sunburst, Montana.

“Whether it’s for our crops, our livestock, or our families, clean water is critical to Montana’s frontier communities,” said Tester. “This investment will help Sunburst improve conditions for small business owners, farmers, and families, protecting clean water and their pocket books.”

The funding will be used to install 225,000 linear feet of 4-inch diameter PVC water main, 6,500 linear feet of 4-inch diameter PVC water main, and 8,600 linear feet of high pressure water main. It will also be used to install pressure reducing vaults, a booster station, isolation valves, air relief, and connections.

Tester has worked diligently to supply Montana water systems with funding to stay up-to-date. He recently secured more than $6 million to update water and wastewater disposal infrastructure in Simms, Broadview, and Absaroke, and he secured an additional $2 million to make upgrades to Geraldine’s water system.
