Tester Announces $4.1 Million for Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport

Grant will go towards the construction of a new runway apron

U.S. Senator Jon Tester announced today that Bozeman’s Yellowstone International Airport will receive a $4.1 million grant to construct a new runway apron at Montana’s busiest airport.

“Bozeman is seeing lots of air traffic these days, and more traffic means more planes that need places to park,” Tester said. “A new apron will help reduce congestion at Yellowstone International, and allow more folks to come enjoy everything the Treasure State has to offer.”

The grants were awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP), which provides grants to airports across the country in order to expand and improve America’s air travel infrastructure. As the Gallatin Valley’s economy and population continue to grow, improvements like this will help Bozeman accommodate the rise in traffic.

Tester has played a consistent role in getting Montana airports the funding they need to improve and expand their facilities. Earlier this year, he introduced a bipartisan amendment to the U.S. Senate Appropriations package that would address staffing issues at Bozeman Yellowstone, and announced a $3 million grant to expand the main terminal and improve safety. He has also been instrumental in securing funding for improvements at airports in Billings, Flathead, and ten other airports across Montana.
