Tester Confirms Robert Wilkie as VA Secretary

Senator Supports President Trump's Nominee to Serve Veterans; Vows to Hold Wilkie Accountable

(U.S. Senate) – Ranking Member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee Jon Tester today voted to confirm Robert Wilkie, President Trump’s nominee to be VA Secretary.

“Mr. Wilkie has experience and a strong commitment to veterans and their families that should serve our men and women in Montana and across our nation,” said Tester. “Veterans need Mr. Wilkie as the VA implements our ten bipartisan VA reform bills that we have gotten signed into law, especially as the VA implements our VA MISSION Act over the next year. By confirming Mr. Wilkie, we do right by the millions of veterans who look to the VA for the health care and benefits they earned in service to our nation. But our job doesn’t stop today. The Senate must always hold Mr. Wilkie accountable to the millions of American veterans he serves.”

Tester announced his support for Wilkie after a thorough screening process in which Tester met personally with Wilkie and asked him tough questions before the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

Wilkie received overwhelming support from Republicans and Democrats on the Committee. The Senate voted 86-9 to confirm him as the tenth Secretary of the VA.

Tester voted for every one of President Trump’s nominees to serve veterans who have come up for a vote.
