Tester Stands Up for Montana Producers and Workers, Urges Fair Trade that Works for Montana Agriculture and Economy

Senator Defends Montana in Trade Talks

(U.S. Senate) – Following the announcement that Canada and 10 Trans-Pacific countries are moving forward without the United States on a trade deal, Senator Jon Tester issued the following statement:

“This is what happens when you stop negotiating: Montanans lose out on access to critical markets. Agriculture is Montana’s number one industry and Montana workers are the backbone of our economy. That’s why America needs to lead and negotiate fair trade deals that work for the American farmer, rancher, and worker.”

Tester, a longtime advocate for fair trade deals, introduced the Trade Transparency and Public Input Act to force the U.S. Trade Representative to create an online public comment portal for Montanans to provide input on trade negotiations.
