Tester Joins Senate Commerce Subcommittees to Fight for Montana

Senator Announces New Opportunity for State’s Economy, Infrastructure

(U.S. Senate) – U.S. Senator Jon Tester announced today he will be fighting for Montana on two subcommittees following his recent appointment to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

Tester will be Montana’s only member of the Commerce subcommittees on Aviation Operations, Safety, and Security and Communications, Technology, Innovation and the Internet.

“I’m honored to serve Montanans on these two important subcommittees,” said Tester. “I’ll have new opportunities to strengthen our national security, invest in Montana’s airports, fight for a free and open internet, and expand rural access to broadband. I will continue to work with Montana’s businesses to put our economy front and center and ensure our state’s Main Streets are thriving.”

Tester was appointed to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation in January 2018 and attended his first hearing last week.

Tester also serves as Ranking Member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee and the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee. He sits on a total of five committees: Commerce, Veterans’ Affairs, Appropriations, Banking, and Indian Affairs.
