Tester Statement on China's Decision to Lift Import Ban on U.S. Beef

(U.S. Senate) – Senator Jon Tester issued the following statement on China’s decision to lift their import ban on U.S. beef:

“I am pleased to see China will finally lift its ban on most U.S. beef imports. This decision can open new markets for Montana’s hardworking cattlemen and women, but it’s critical that the Chinese back up this announcement with quick results. We all know Montana ranchers raise the best beef in the world, and I’ll keep pushing to make sure that folks in China will be able to toss a Montana T-Bone on the grill.”

Senator Tester has been calling on China to lift the ban since 2007, and in 2011 Tester urged Secretary Vilsack and the United States Trade Representative to work with China to lift the ban on American beef.
