Tester announces $410,000 award for Helena Fire Department

Helena’s Fire Department to purchase new truck with federal grant

(U.S. Senate) – Senator Jon Tester today announced that the Helena Fire Department has been awarded $410,000 in grants from the Department of Homeland Security to purchase a new fire truck.

As a member of the Senate Appropriations and Homeland Security Committees, Tester helped secure the award through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program at the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

“This truck will help the Helena Fire Department keep the Helena community safe,” Tester said. “Firefighters who put their lives on the line every day need to have top-notch equipment to quickly respond to fires, provide emergency assistance, and protect lives.”

“This award will go a long way toward ensuring a reliable fleet to provide service to our community, surrounding area, and the many employees and visitors that live outside of our City and commute into town daily. We truly appreciate the assistance of Senator Tester in acquiring this award and couldn’t be happier,” said Helena Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Kelly Tuck.

AFG provides critical equipment, protective gear, and vehicles to fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations across the nation.
