Tester statement on passage of USA Freedom Act

(U.S. Senate) – Senator Jon Tester today issued the following statement after the Senate passed the USA Freedom Act in a 67 – 32 vote:

“I’m pleased Congress took significant steps to end some of the worst abuses carried out under the Patriot Act. Protecting our country from threats doesn’t have to come at the expense of our privacy, and the USA Freedom Act takes steps to provide that responsible balance. Moving forward, I will continue to protect our civil liberties while working to keep our nation secure.”

The USA Freedom Act now heads to the President’s desk for signature.
