Missoula student nominated by Tester accepted to West Point

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today announced that a Missoula student has been accepted to the prestigious U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.

Samantha Clark,17, is a fencing athlete and member of Missoula Youth Symphony. She attends Sentinel High School where she is a National Honors Society member and a Sentinel Scholar. She is actively involved in her church and local community through volunteering.

Senator Tester nominated Samantha based on her academics, public service and commitment to serving her country. Today, Senator Tester called Samantha personally to congratulate her on her acceptance.

“Samantha’s commitment to selfless service, Montana, and her nation is to be applauded,” said Tester, a former teacher. “I was proud to nominate Samantha, and today I’m proud to congratulate her on her acceptance. It’s a high honor, and I wish her the very best.”

Late last year, Tester nominated 30 Montana students to the nation’s military service academies based on their academic achievement, leadership, community service and participation in extracurricular activities.

Montanans interested in applying for a military academy nomination in the future are encouraged to do so online at Tester’s website.
