Missoula student nominated by Tester accepted to West Point

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today announced that a Big Sky High School student has been accepted to the prestigious U.S. Military Academy in West Point N.Y.

Molly Langland, 18, is a theater production student, varsity cross country and tennis athlete, and an avid volunteer in her community. She attended the West Point Summer Leadership Experience in 2014 and served as Big Sky High School’s Ambassador to Kumamato, Japan.

Senator Tester nominated Molly based on her leadership, public service and commitment to serving her country. Today, Senator Tester called Molly personally to congratulate her on her acceptance.

“It is an honor to nominate an impressive, multi-talented student like Molly to West Point,” said Tester, a former teacher. “I’m confident that Molly’s passion and commitment to serving her country will set an excellent example for her generation.”

Late last year, Tester nominated 30 Montana students to the nation’s military service academies based on their academic achievement, leadership, community service and participation in extracurricular activities.

Montanans interested in applying for a military academy nomination in the future are encouraged to do so online at Tester’s website.
