Tester statement on Military Compensation & Retirement Commission Report

(U.S. SENATE)-Senator Jon Tester released the following statement in response to a military report that recommends reforms to the military retirement system:

“Dramatic cuts to military benefits and retirement would break faith with the men and women who have signed up to defend our nation. I won’t support proposals that radically change our commitment to our armed service members and their families. We need to deliver on the promises we have made to the folks who serve our nation.”

The Military Compensation & Retirement Commission Report recommends that Congress amends the current retirement system which requires 20 years of service in order to receive a monthly pension and offer a system that includes a 401(k)-style retirement account that provides limited contributions from the government.
