Bozeman student nominated by Tester accepted to West Point

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today announced that a Bozeman High School student has been accepted to the prestigious U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.

Zachary Giesecke, 18, is a varsity football and lacrosse player, wrestler, and singer in Jazz Choir. Zachary previously attended the West Point Summer Leadership Experience. Tester nominated Zachary in 2014, and today he personally called Zachary to tell him he was accepted into the Academy.

“I’m proud of Zachary’s dedication to serving our country and Montana,” said Tester, a former teacher. “Zachary is an impressive young man who has chosen to participate in an important tradition of military service. I wish him the best of luck and look forward to his future success.”

Tester nominated 30 Montana students to the nation’s military service academies based on their academic achievement, leadership, community service and participation in extracurricular activities.

Montanans interested in applying for a military academy nomination in the future are encouraged to do so online at Tester’s website.
