Tester statement on Senate’s passage of the highway funding bill

Senator pushes for long-term infrastructure solution

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester issued the following statement after joining 78 of his Senate colleagues in voting to pass a bill to fund the Highway Trust Fund:

“This bill provides critical funding to build and maintain roads and bridges across Montana while also putting folks to work strengthening our state’s infrastructure. I’m disappointed Congress hasn’t reached a long-term solution yet, but I will continue to work to make sure our state’s economy and transportation system have more certainty moving forward.”

Prior to this bill’s passage, the Highway Trust Fund was set to run out of money by the end of the August. This bill extends the solvency of the Fund through December 2014. The measure now goes to the House of Representatives. Senator Tester recently authored an op-ed on the Highway Trust Fund. You can read it online HERE.
