Tester statement on Yellowstone River diversion dam

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers extended the public comment period for the Yellowstone River diversion dam modification project:

“I’m pleased the agency is taking more time to gather public input on this project. It’s important that the agency considers all options and listens to the concerns of local communities and other stakeholders.”

The public comment period has been extended through May 16, 2014.

Tester previously met with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Reclamation emphasizing the impact this project has on the local economy. Tester also told the agencies during an Appropriations Committee hearing that they must stand behind the project once it is completed to ensure it works properly.
