Tester: North Fork ‘fell victim to folks who can’t even find the Flathead on a map’

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement after Senate Republicans prevented Montana Senator John Walsh from bringing the North Fork Watershed Protection Act to a vote:

“Today, the North Fork – and the thousands of Montanans working to protect it – fell victim to a few folks who can’t even find the Flathead River on a map. Politics trumped good policy, hurting Montana’s economy and our outdoor heritage in the process. The American people deserve better. I remain committed to working with Senator Walsh to get this done.”

Tester and Walsh’s North Fork Watershed Protection Act would permanently protect the American side of the North Fork Watershed from new oil and gas development and mining.

Walsh attempted to have the full Senate vote on the bill, but three Republicans objected to the measure.
