Tester statement on John Walsh’s appointment to the U.S. Senate

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement after Governor Steve Bullock appointed Lieutenant Governor John Walsh to fill the vacant Senate seat created by Senator Max Baucus’s confirmation to be U.S. Ambassador to China:

“Senator Baucus left big shoes to fill, but I am confident John Walsh is up to the task of finding common ground to lead our nation and put Montana first. John has spent his career serving the people of Montana as an officer in the National Guard, and his courage and sound judgment will be welcome additions to the United States Senate. I know that John’s experience will help him as he joins me in the fight to stand up for our veterans, middle class families, and small businesses.”
