Tester attends Montana Academy & ROTC Day

(GREAT FALLS, Mont.) – Senator Jon Tester is encouraging Montana middle and high school students to pursue careers in the U.S. military.

Tester today visited Montana Academy Day in Great Falls where students and their parents learned about applying to the nation’s five military service academies and the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).

Tester told the students that the service academies only accept the nation’s ‘best and brightest’ and encouraged them to begin preparing by studying hard and getting involved in community activities.

Tester was joined by representatives from the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and ROTC.

So far this year, 11 Montana students nominated by Tester and Baucus have been accepted to service academies.

Montana Academy Day was co-hosted by Senator Max Baucus and Congressman Steve Daines.
