Tester statement on the appointment of Montana’s Bruce Nelson to head the Farm Service Agency

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement in response to Bruce Nelson of Montana being officially appointed to head the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency:

“Farmers and ranchers in Montana and across the country will be well served with Bruce Nelson at the head of the Farm Service Agency. I congratulate Bruce on his appointment and look forward to continuing our work together to strengthen the family farms and ranches that are the backbone of Montana’s economy.”

Since May, Nelson has served as acting administrator of the Farm Service Agency.

Nelson, from Fort Benton, Mont., had previously served as director of Montana’s Farm Service Agency offices.

Tester and Nelson last month toured flooded agriculture land near Billings and Roundup, offering resources to farmers and ranchers at a public meeting in Billings.
