Tester to Congress: Stop stalling, rebuild our infrastructure

(U.S. SENATE) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement after some Senators blocked progress on the highway bill.  The bipartisan legislation makes long-term investments in the nation’s roads, bridges, and transit systems and will not add to the national debt:

“With our nation’s infrastructure crumbling, it’s irresponsible to block this bipartisan effort to create jobs for contractors and rebuild our transportation system.  Montanans rely on good roads and railways and we've got to lay the groundwork for long-term economic growth.  Congress needs to keep the focus on jobs and work together to get this done.”

The highway bill is expected to create or maintain hundreds of thousands of jobs over the next two years.

The Senate will continue consideration of the bill this week.
