Tester statement on economy adding 290,000 new jobs in April

Senator: good infrastructure creates jobs and opportunity

(BUTTE, Mont.) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement on today’s report that the American economy added 290,000 new jobs in April:

"These new numbers are encouraging.  Good infrastructure like safe roads, reliable water systems and strong schools creates jobs and new opportunities in Montana and across rural America, and I'm proud of the work we're doing on that front.

"But there’s much more work to do to rebuild our economy.  In the months ahead, I'll continue to listen to Montanans and work together to create more jobs and opportunities across our state."

Tester hosted two Small Business Opportunity Workshops in the past year to help create more jobs for Montanans.

The first workshop in Great Falls last June helped Montana companies win federal contracts for construction projects through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  The second workshop in Bozeman in February brought together more than 100 Montana businesses with dozens of state and federal agencies to help Montana companies better compete for government contracts.
