Tester statement on 48 new jobs for Malmstrom Air Force Base

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Senator Jon Tester today released the following statement in response to the U.S. Air Force’s Fiscal Year 2011 Force Structure Announcement, which calls for an increase of 48 civilian employees at Malmstrom Air  Force Base:

“Word of four dozen new jobs at Malmstrom is a clear reminder that this base is important to north-central Montana.  Malmstrom is a world-class facility whose mission strengthens our entire country and Montana’s economy.  But we have more to do, and we’ll keep working together to make smart investments in Malmstrom’s future.”

Malmstrom Air Force Base, in Great Falls, Mont., is home to 3,149 military personnel, 619 direct civilian employees and hundreds of contractors.  The base generates more than $433 million in economic activity for north-central Montana each year.
