Tester: Veterans Day an ‘opportunity to reflect’

(BILLINGS, Mont.) – U.S. Senator Jon Tester, a member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee and lead sponsor of the VOW to Hire Heroes Act, today released the following Veterans Day message:

Thank you for being a part of this year’s events honoring America’s veterans.

This is an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by America’s heroes.

It’s a day to say thank you to the folks who fought for and gave us the freedoms we all enjoy; the freedoms too many Americans take for granted.

To all men and women who served this nation – and to those who continue to serve: Thank you.

Thanks also to the spouses and kids of our veterans here today. Answering the call of duty is a shared sacrifice.

As your U.S. Senator, it’s my role to make sure that this nation lives up to its promises to every American who serves in our military. It is a role I take very seriously.

This week, I had the honor of pushing a bipartisan jobs bill for veterans through the U.S. Senate. Our bill makes the transition between military service and civilian work as seamless as possible by connecting veterans with good-paying jobs.

I’m pleased to report that our bill passed the Senate with bipartisan support.

It passed because of Montana veterans who brought their ideas and concerns to me. I hope that’s something you will continue to do in the months ahead.

I join all Montanans and all Americans when I say thank you. And job well done.

God bless,

Jon
