Tester: Disaster Declaration for Rocky Boy’s Reservation an ‘important step’

(WHITEFISH, Mont.) – U.S. Senator Jon Tester released the following statement in response to the President’s disaster declaration today for Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation, in the wake of significant flooding in the area:

“Today’s declaration is an important step toward restoring basic needs including clean drinking water, housing and health care. The families who call Rocky Boy’s home are in great need of resources, and I’ll keep working with FEMA, the State of Montana, and the Chippewa Cree Tribe to see this funding through.”

Tester toured flooding damage on the reservation two weeks ago.  He has communicated frequently with FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate, urging him to approve the request.

Tester is a member of the Homeland Security Committee, which oversees FEMA, and the Senate Indian Affairs Committee.
