Senators announce nearly $300,000 for Missoula County

Money will expand safe visitation site

(WASHINGTON, D.C.)  Missoula County’s Planet Kids Center will receive $299,991 to enhance and expand existing supervised visitation and safe exchange services, thanks to a grant announced today by Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester.

Planet Kids is a visitation center where families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, teen dating violence, and stalking can visit each other. The grant money will be used to expand services to clients in rural areas, to increase outreach to American Indians, and to develop a Fathering After Violence Program.

“Safe sites are so important for our communities,” Baucus said. “This money will help expand a vital service in Missoula County that provides new hope and opportunity for so many Montana families.”

“Places like Planet Kids help victims of violence and abuse start to rebuild their lives,” Tester said. “And that rebuilding is such an important part of keeping our communities and families strong.”

Missoula County was awarded the grant through the Office on Violence Against Women in the U.S. Department of Justice.
