Ag Secretary to visit Montana at Tester’s invitation

Vilsack will visit Helena, Deer Lodge and Bozeman Saturday

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will visit Montana at the invitation of Senator Jon Tester this Saturday, March 6.

Vilsack plans to visit Helena, Deer Lodge and Bozeman.

After a morning meeting with ag producers in Helena, Vilsack, who oversees the U.S. Forest Service, is scheduled to discuss the Forest Jobs and Recreation Act with Tester in Deer Lodge.  Tester and Vilsack will also take an aerial tour of Montana’s beetle-killed forests.

Vilsack and Tester also plan to visit a school in Bozeman to discuss the Child Nutrition Act and farm-to-school food efforts in Montana.

“It’s going to be a productive workday for us,” said Tester, one of only two farmers in the U.S. Senate.  “We’re going to get good input from Montana’s farmers and ranchers, and we’re going to share good ideas about the future of Montana’s forests.  It’s always an honor to show off Montana.”
