WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Jon Tester joined Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, and hundreds of veterans at the World War II memorial this week.

The event was organized to honor veterans from World War II, as well as introduce a new HBO mini-series that premiered Sunday. The 10-part show, called "The Pacific" is based on events from Marine Corps operations in the war.

"Well it was an honor to be at the World War II memorial where we saw World War II vets that had never seen the memorial before," Senator Jon Tester said. "It was a tremendous honor to honor the folks that fought so hard during World War II to keep this country free."

The next instalments of "The Pacific" will air on Sundays at 7 pm.
