WASHINGTON, D.C. – Saying it will help boost Montana’s economy, Sen. Jon Tester announced Tuesday he has been appointed to the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.

“Our state’s economy will be front and center as we work together to strengthen our transportation infrastructure, boost broadband and broadcasting, and fight for higher paying jobs. I look forward to partnering with Montana businesses to ensure our state’s Main Streets are thriving,” Tester, a Montana Democrat, said in a prepared statement.

Tester, Montana’s senior senator, now sits on five committees: Commerce, Veterans’ Affairs, Appropriations, Banking, and Indian Affairs. He is the ranking member of Veterans’ Affairs and the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee.

Tester is facing re-election this year for his third six-year term.
