Sen. Jon Tester will be joined in Havre Tuesday by the head of Customs and Border Protection to talk about border issues.

Tester and CBP Commissioner Alan Bersin will hold a roundtable at 9 a. m. at the Border Patrol station at 345 16th Ave. W.

“The discussion will be with community leaders, cross-border trade stakeholders and other interested parties about the opportunities and challenges facing the ports of entry, including what works, what could be improved, and how the international trade community and CBP can forge partnerships to benefit private industry on both sides of the border, ” a statement from Tester’s office said.

This will be Bersin’s second visit to Havre.

While touring the region at the invitation of Tester and Sen. Max Baucus last fall, Bersin and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano held a town hall meeting in Havre, where they announced a pilot project of extending the summer hours at the Port of Wild Horse for a longer period.
