Tester Frustrated With Senate
Moments ago, I completed a phone conversation with Senator Jon Tester. It was a wide ranging interview, covering commonsense gun control, status of the VA, Brexit and the Supreme Court.
What struck me the most was the sense of frustration heard in the senator’s voice.
“I don’t think what’s going on in Washington, D.C. for a good while now has been healthy for our democracy. I think that this country was built by people setting aside their differences and working together and trying to find compromise where you may not get everything you want, but you get something that is workable for the country,” Tester said.
Senator Tester expressed frustration, specifically, regarding the Zika bill — shortly after our conversation the bill was blocked by Senate Democrats — Tester said the bill was full of “poison pills” that were put in for political reasons.
Join me Wednesday morning to hear separate conversations with both Montana U.S. senators, Steve Daines (7:15 a.m.) and Jon Tester, beginning at 8:06 a.m.
