Tester hopes to bring VA secretary to Butte to push vets' home
For several years, the proposed veterans’ home in Butte hasn’t gotten off the ground. Money has been raised. Plans have been set. But it hasn’t gotten done.
U.S. Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., has a plan to change that: he wants to bring Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald to town.
The plan made the VA’s Priority List in 2012, but has since stalled.
“If we can get him out here … I think there’s hope,” Tester said Thursday morning during a visit in Butte with The Montana Standard’s editorial staff. “The secretary has a lot of discretion.”
