Tester: Joint committee has 'real issues to deal with' on VA fix
Last month marked the first time in 15 years members of the U.S. House and Senate met in a joint committee to hash out legislation focused on the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Veterans Affairs Conference Committee included 14 Republicans, 13 Democrats and one Independent. Their charge was simple in description but monumental in task: Fix the VA.
“We’ve got some real issues to deal with,” said committee member Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont. “The chairman and ranking members are in negotiations as we speak to come up with a consolidated bill we can move forward with.”
