Tester Calls For Greater Transparency, Accountability In Military Spending
MISSOULA – Senator Jon Tester makes a push for greater transparency and accountability in the Defense Department’s budget.
Tester said the Defense Department is the only federal department that hasn’t done a full audit of its spending. He spoke at a Senate hearing, calling the military’s failure to open its books and account for its spending a disservice to taxpayers and military personnel. He said Pentagon spending is now almost 60% of the nation’s overall discretionary spending.
