Today the country reflects on a serious anxiety disorder that affects millions of Americans.

Senator Jon Tester's bill that passed earlier this month makes today National Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Day. The bill aims to inform the public and educate veterans and their families about the resources and treatments available.

Matt Kuntz, NAMI executive director, says, "Really, really important that the public understands post-traumatic stress disorder, especially in relation to returning veterans. It's important that they realize that not all veterans coming back from overseas have the condition, but for the ones that do, it's a biological injury to the brain caused by stress."

Nationally, the VA Hospital treated nearly half a million veterans for post-traumatic stress disorder last year.
