Hi-Line Today: VA investing in suicide prevention

by Isreal Hale

The US Department of Veterans Affairs has begun accepting applications for the Staff Sargeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant for fiscal year 2025.

With efforts from Senator Jon Tester, chairman of the Senate’s Veterans Affairs Committee, the grant provides federal funding for local programs to help with suicide prevention. Tester secured $52.5 million for the program last year, $2.15 going to services in Montana. Box Elder’s Great Plains Veterans’ Service Center received $650,000 through this program.

Organizations may apply for up to $750,000 in grant funding, and can be re-applied for every year.
