Hi-Line Today: A Montana Senator Has Concerns

by Justin Pollock

(U.S. Senate) — A Montana Senator is voicing their opinion about controversial policy changes coming from Washington.

Senator Tester of Montana and colleagues voiced concerns over the Biden administration’s plan to eliminate Title 42. A Covid era policy which allows migrants to be expelled from the United States because of concerns of Covid 19. For context, Homeland Security recorded more than 2 million encounters with illegal immigrants at the southern border last year, a new record.

In the letter, the Senators questioned how the Administration plans to ensure operational control of the border, maintain security, dedicate resources, and provide fair and humane treatment for migrants at the Southwest Border once Title 42 ends. Currently, Title 42 is set to end on December 21st.
